Hussain worried by cramp problem

December 19, 2002 15:12 IST
England captain Nasser Hussain says he is fighting a regular battle with cramp during matches.

"I've always struggled with cramp throughout my career for some reason," the Essex batsman told the Sydney Daily Telegraph on Thursday. "It's something I need to have a look at again."

Hussain had to call for a runner while batting in England's triangular one-day series win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday after suffering cramp and said he was at a loss to stop the problem.

He said he had sought preventative treatment. "I've cut down on caffeine and things like that in the two days before a game but whatever I seem to do I get cramp."

Hussain added that while it was sometimes painful he was unlikely to miss any games as a result.
