A summary of the day's play in the Vijay Hazare One-day tournament.
Electing to bat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Kerala’s batting folded in 22 overs against some disciplined bowling.
Pace spearhead and captain R Vinay Kumar started Kerala’s demolition, bagging a couple of wickets, while left-arm bowler Sreenath Aravind also picked two.
Gopal then took over, rattling the middle and lower-order.
Opener Nikhilesh Surendran (11) and skipper Sachin Baby (12) were the only two batsmen to get into double figures in an innings that had four ducks.
Karnataka’s top-order then wasted little time in chasing down the score in 5.5 overs.
Mayank Agarwal (5) was out early, but Lokesh Rahul (19) and Karun Nair (24) made sure there were no hiccups in the chase.
After five matches, Karnataka have three victories and Kerala two.
Brief Scores:
Kerala 49 all out in 22 overs (Nikhilesh Surendran 11, Sachin Baby 12; Chreyas Goapl 5-19) vs Karnataka 51-1 in 5.5 overs (Lokesh Rahul 19 not out, Karun Nair 24 not out; Unnikrishnan Manukrishnan 1-27).
Swapnil Singh bags 5 wkts as Baroda rout Tripura
Swapnil Singh's five-wicket haul helped Baroda skittle out Tripura for a paltry 58 and win their Group C match in Delhi by six wickets.
Electing to bat at the Palam Air Force ground, Tripura’s batting fell like a deck of cards.
If left-arm Swapnil led the charge, then pace spearhead Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan turned on the heat to make a mockery of the Tripura line-up. Only skipper Manisankar Murasingh (10) could muster a double-figure score as the highest-scorer was the extras count (16).
Sharing the new ball with Irfan, Swapnil returned figures of 5-25, while the pace spearhead (2-8) and Yusuf (3-24) shared five wickets between themselves.
Chasing the low total, the Ambati Rayudu-led side also faced a scare after losing three quick wickets and being reduced for 13 for three, but the skipper ensured that they cantered home in 6.1 overs even after they lost another wicket in Deepak Hooda (11).
Pace spearhead Chiranjit Paul bagged three wickets, while Swapan one.

Sharing the new ball with Umesh, left-arm pacer Shrikant Wagh trapped opener Koripalli Sreekanth for nought to start the batting rot.
Umesh soon joined in the party with three scalps as Karnewar, who wiped off the tail in double quick time, emerged the destroyer-in-chief.
