India will be counting on their spinners on the last day to score a series-levelling victory in the second Test against South Africa on Thursday.
Rain and Hashim Amla frustrated them on Day four after Amit Mishra grabbed two wickets to reduce South Africa to 115 for 3 at close. The tourists are still 232 behind, with the in-form Amla on 49 and Ashwell Prince yet to get off the mark.
India have a possible 97 overs claim the remaining seven South African wickets and avoid their first home series defeat since losing to Australia in 2004.
However, with a full day's play not guaranteed after bad light and rain allowed only 34.1 overs to be bowled on Wednesday, they will need more than an exceptional performance from their bowlers to emerge victorious and retain their number one ranking.
