While India are the reigning World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy winners, South Africa are the No. 1 team in the Test format and will be looking to continue their domination at home against the visitors.

India will be on a high having beaten West Indies in both the Test and ODI series at home, while South Africa lost at home to Pakistan 1-2 in the ODI series.
India will be aiming to win their first Test series in South Africa, having drawn the previous series played in that country in 2010-11.
The tour, which was controversially cut down from it's original lengthy schedule, will begin with the first One-Day International in Johannesburg on December 5, while the two-Test series will begin on December 18 at the same venue.
