Australia captain Aaron Finch heaped praise on Indian counterpart Rohit Sharma after the rain-hit second T20 International in Nagpur on Friday.
Rohit scored an unbeaten 46 of 20 balls, which included four sixes and as many fours, as India, chasing 91 after the match was reduced to eight overs a side due to a wet outfield, beat the visitors by six wickets.
Dinesh Karthik, who scored 10 off two balls, including a four and six, hit the winning runs as India won with four balls to spare.
Finch also lauded the performance of left-arm spinner Axar Patel, who bagged two wickets for 13 runs in his quota of two overs.
"Rohit was brilliant… and the two overs Axar bowled were probably the difference in the game," said Finch, at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Australia posted a massive 90 for 5 after the rain-delayed start before Rohit's swashbuckling knock helped India chase down the target in just 7.2 overs.
"You probably plan for five-over games and add a little bit on to it. When you are doing all your planning for World Cups you always have them in the back of your mind," said Finch.
Matthew Wade (43 off 20 balls) also played a brilliant knock for Australia, scoring an unbeaten 43 of 20 balls.
Wade, who went on to hit four boundaries and three sixes in the match, also played a leading hand in the first T20I in Mohali, scoring 45 not out off just 21 balls.
"Wade is such a calm customer at the back end of the innings. He did a wonderful job for us. We got close," he said.
The victory saw India level the three-match series 1-1. The teams have everything to play for in the third T20I in Hyderabad on Sunday.
