Dinesh Karthik has been flown in as a last minute back-up for injured India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni ahead of the second cricket Test against Sri Lanka starting in Kanpur on Tuesday.
Dhoni hurt his finger during the first Test at Ahmedabad which ended in a tame draw last Friday.
However, his injury is not very serious as the skipper batted and even rolled his arms at the nets during Team India's practice session on Sunday.
He is likely to be declared fit for the match.
Tamil Nadu skipper Karthik was scheduled to play in their Ranji Trophy Super League match against Himachal Pradesh in Dharmasala on Tuesday.
The right-handed batsman last represented India in a Test against New Zealand in Napier in March this year.
