Ace Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is now in a wave of a storm for what appeared to be criticising the government of Tamil Nadu.
In what was seemed as a veiled attack at ‘Chinnamma’ Sasikala, Ashwin wrote on Twitter earlier on Monday that there could be 234 job openings soon in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
"To all the youngsters in TN, 234 job opportunities to open up shortly," Ashwin tweeted.
The Tamil Nadu legislative assembly has 234 seats, to which members are elected, and one seat for a nominated member from the Anglo-Indian community.
However, Ashwin soon clarified his comments, saying that his previous post has nothing to do with politics.
"Guys please cool it down, it is a job creation drive. Nothing to do with Politics.#howmuchtwisting," he said.
On Sunday, Sasikala was unanimously elected as the leader of the AIADMK legislature party.
O. Panneerselvam, the current incumbent of the post who proposed Sasikala's name at the party's internal meeting on Sunday afternoon, announced his resignation soon after.
Sasikala is likely to take her oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Thursday. She will now meet Governor Vidyasagar Rao to stake her claim to form the government.
Following former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa's death on December 5, it was 61-year-old Sasikala who performed her last rites.
