Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been made the brand ambassador of Jharkhand's 'Save Tiger' project.
He was made the brand ambassador in a simple ceremony held at the official residence of deputy chief minister Sudesh Kumar Mahto yesterday evening.
Mahto also holds the portfolio of the forest department. Expressing gratitude towards the state government for reposing so much faith on him in appointing him as the brand ambassador, Dhoni assured to do his best to protect the environment and tiger.
"It is a big honour for me that the state government has considered me capable enough to shoulder such a big cause like tiger protection and environment," Dhoni told the media.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Jharkhand government also released a poster highlighting the importance of forest and environment in human life along with a photograph of Dhoni.
According to the principal secretary of forest and environment department A K Sarkar, a logo to display Dhoni as the brand ambassador will soon be released.
"The association with people like Dhoni, who command respect of the people, a movement like Save Tiger and environment will have a good impact," Mahto said.
