India's limited-overs' captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni congratulated the Indian Air Force on the induction of its first squadron of indigenously made Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas on Friday.
Posting a photo of the aircraft, Dhoni took to a micro-blogging site Twitter to applaud the IAF on the feat.
"Congrats to IAF on their latest warbirds and everyone who were part of the project indeed a very proud moment for INDIA," the 34-year-old tweeted.
An induction ceremony to induct two Tejas aircrafts was held at the Aircraft Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) in Bengaluru, which included a multi-religious prayer.
The crew members of the first squadron of Tejas, a multi-role supersonic single-engine aircraft designed and developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), also performed pooja and broke coconuts to mark the auspicious occasion.
Dhoni, who is an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel himself, took time to take part in para training last year after retiring from Test cricket.
The wicketkeeper-batsman trained with the elite Para regiment of the Indian Army in Agra and completed three para jumps successfully.
