Deccan Chargers will feature younger players in the fourth season of the Indian Premier League. The franchise's vice-president, E Venkat Reddy, said the team plans to scout for talent in local tournaments.
"Deccan Chargers is one of the popular teams in India. Players are ready to come and play for Deccan Chargers. In season four also, Deccan Chargers will do good. We will have a younger side and two or three experienced players to guide them for the next two, three years," informed Reddy, in Hyderabad, on Friday.
He said promising players have been identified and more will be spotted when the Moin-ud-Dowla and Buchibabu tournaments get underway.
Asked if the team will have any foreign players, he said no player can be approached now, as the IPL governing council rules have not yet been announced.
"We are waiting for the IPL Governing Council's decision on what the process is. Once the rules come in, then we will formalise how the structure should be," he said.
Reddy dismissed reports in a section of the media that the Deccan Chargers' management is planning to sell off its stake.
Deccan Chargers ended at the bottom of the table in the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008 and went on to claim the title in 2009. It won eight out of 16 games in 2010.
Reddy is now contesting for one of the three vice-president's posts in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) elections, scheduled for August 22.
Former cricketers S L Venkatapathy Raju and BCCI vice-president Shivlal Yadav are the other contenders for the remaining two posts.
D S Chalapathi, S Venkateswaran and P Yadagiri are the candidates for honorary secretary, joint-secretary and treasurer respectively.
HCA president-elect and former India player Arshad Ayub held a press conference to unveil the plans of the panel for promoting cricket in Hyderabad region.
Ayub said the panel has plans to set up a cricket academy, a cricket village with grounds and promote the game and young players in the districts.
The panel is challenged by a rebel group led by Congress Lok Sabha member G Vivekananda and former secretary P R Mansingh.
