Chasing that formidable total, Uva Next were reduced to 0 for 1, with Dilshan Munaweera out to the first ball, when the rain that started after the Caribbean nation's innings intensified.

Both teams failed to make the main draw after Yorkshire beat Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday to register their second victory and go through.

Auckland Aces is the other team from  the qualifiers to make it to the main draw.

Earlier, sent in to bat, Trinidad rode on unbeaten half centuries from Darren Bravo and skipper Denesh Ramdin.

While Bravo scored 54 off 42 deliveries, inclusive of of nine fours, Ramdin rattled off a 31-ball 50, which was studded with six hits to the fence.

The day's second match, between Hampshire and Sialkot Stallions, to be played at the same venue, is also likely to be washed out because of the wet ground.
