The Working Committee meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India beginning in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday could well be a stormy affair with issues pertaining to suspension of all financial assistance and grants to Tamil Nadu Cricket Association set to dominate the proceedings.

According to sources the two-day meeting, called to ratify the BCCI six-member committee's decision to appoint Greg Chappell as the new coach of India, was likely to be dominated by discussions over the inaction of the TNCA against its clubs for having dragged the BCCI to courts.

Various Court cases against the BCCI, including the 'contempt of court' cases against former president Jagmohan Dalmiya, incumbent Ranbir Singh Mahendra, and secretary S K Nair, and the cases related to its elections filed by Netaji Cricket Club and the Sir Thyagaraya Cricket Club affiliated to the TNCA would be on the agenda for the meeting.

"The likely decision will be to stop all BCCI's financial assistance and grants to the TNCA," they added.

Other thorny issues to be deliberated upon include passing of legislations by the Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh governments to regulate sports in their respective states and BCCI vice president Kamal Morarka's demand for disqualification of Rajasthan Cricket Association president Lalit Modi for his alleged conviction in USA 20 years ago.

The other subjects on the agenda include the upcoming cricket toursĀ of the Indian team, merger of women's and men's cricket boards and television rights issues. (Forthcoming fixtures)

With the Indian Government deciding to amend the Income Tax Act to give tax exemption for international sporting events the Working Committee would also discuss the details regarding holding of the ICC Champions Trophy next year in the country, BCCI secretary S K Nair said.

Before taking up these matters, the members would confirm the minutes (to be circulated) of the committee meeting in New Delhi held on Feb 17 and May 1.

The meeting, to be held here after a gap of 24 years, would be attended by BCCI president Ranbir Singh Mahendra, Nair, joint secretary Goutam Dasgupta, treasurer Jyoti Bajpai, vice presidents C K Khanna, M Ranga Reddy, Rajeev Shukla, Chirayu Amin and Morarka and representatives of 14 associations.
