The National Cricket Academy under the chairmanship of M P Pandove said it will enter into a strategic tie-up with Cricket Australia along with the setting up of an independent complex to shift the facility from Bangalore, while also extending help the national cricketers of Nepal, who have been affected by the earthquake.

"Our delegation had been to Australia to discuss about Exchange Programme of players and coaches. Our players will go for High Performance Programme in Cricket Australia's Academy. Also our coaches will be going there for advanced coaching courses. More trained our coaches are, better it is for us," a member of NCA committee told PTI on condition of anonymity.

The first meeting of the National Cricket Academy was held in New Delhi during which the key issues related to the overall development of the game were addressed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a media release on Thursday.

"A road map to develop the NCA into a High Performance Centre was deliberated at length and the need to establish such a nodal centre for all developmental activities with a renewed focus to develop our next generation of cricketers

was discussed. The location and detailed plans will be finalised to be presented in the forthcoming meeting of the Working Committee," BCCI said.

The BCCI also offered to help the national cricketers of Nepal, who have been affected by the earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday, killing more nearly 6,000 people, and injuring at least 11,000..

"Considering the unfortunate tragedy that has devastated Nepal, the Hony. Secretary, Mr. Anurag Thakur, proposed that the BCCI must extend the facilities available at the NCA to the national cricketers of Nepal, who are deprived of such facilities, which will take time to be restored in their home-country," BCCI added.

Meanwhile, the NCA source further added that they are looking towards "building an independent NCA complex" as there is a plan to shift it from the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

"Pune and Dharamsala are two areas which are in BCCI's radar for making an independent NCA complex. Currently, we are using KSCA facility. We will have to buy a land, create a full complex with swimming pool, gymnasium, apart from cricketing facility."

"The NCA also decided that it would direct all state associations under its wings to have their State Cricket Academy within next two years. The BCCI gives a lot of grant and it is a must. The committee was unanimous on it," the source added.
