Newly elected Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya wants former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly to take over as the new technical committee chairman.

Dalmiya discussed the matter with other members of the BCCI on Monday, hours after taking over as the new president. The current technical committee chairman of BCCI is former Indian captain Anil Kumble.

The other members of the BCCI were quick to ask why Dalmiya did not want to wait till September when all committees are set to be recast. Dalmiya, apparently, insisted on Ganguly.

When the matter was brought to Ganguly's attention, the elegant left-handed batsman was surprised.

"I will have a word with Mr Dalmiya. Anil Kumble should continue till his term expires. He is a respected cricketer, I played with him, BCCI should honour him that. I don't want to snatch anything from my colleague. I will accept it when Anil Kumble's turn gets over," said Ganguly.
