Rohit Sharma is going through a purple patch at the moment.
Four of his last eight innings at the international level have yielded 50-plus scores.
He continued his good form in the inaugural match of the Asia Cup, against hosts Bangaldesh, scoring exactly half of India's total.
The 28-year-old's 55-ball 83 was good enough to win him the man of the match award.
Rohit felt the tournament is a perfect platform for the team before the ICC World T20.
"It's important for me to start afresh and not look back too much. This is a perfect platform for us before the World Cup," he said.
Asked about the wicket, Rohit said, "It was unusual to see this kind of wicket in this part of the world. It was always important for one batter to bat as long as possible and I told myself I had to do that.
"I was focusing on my basics on this kind of the pitch, use the pace of the bowlers. It was a good wicket and the ball was carrying."
