KKR get Ten Doeschate
January 09, 2011
Young all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who led Australia to the Under-19 World Cup last year, made a windfall after he was purchased by Sahara Pune Warriors for $290,000.
Interestingly, Pune is coached by Marsh's father Geoff Marsh, who is a former Australia coach. His elder brother Shaun Marsh was retained by Kings XI Punjab on day one of the auction.
His compatriot Andrew McDonald was retained by Delhi Daredevils for $80,000. John Hastings, also from Australia, was bought by Team Kochi for his base price of $20,000.
Ryan Ten Doeschate of the Netherlands was a surprise pick by Kolkata Knight Riders for $150,000 for three times his base price.
The unsold players from the all-rounder's group were:
West Indies captain Darren Sammy, New Zealand's Aaron Redmond, Zimbabwean Prosper Utseya, England's Graham Napier and Sri Lankans Kaushalya Weeraratne, Jeevantha Kulantunga and Jeevan Mendis.
