BCCI warns coach Kirsten over columns

July 03, 2008 13:37 IST

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has told coach Gary Kirsten not to comment on the team on his personal web site.

"Kirsten cannot write post-match comments or columns as per our policy," Ratnakar Shetty, BCCI's chief administrator officer, said on Thursday, adding that only the team captains are allowed to write newspaper or web site columns.

On the site (www.garykirsten.com), the South African, who took over in March, said there is a need to introduce a rotation policy, adding that one-day captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in need of rest.

Last November, BCCI had issued a show cause notice to chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar asking him to stop writing columns in newspapers.
