Boucher reclaims wicketkeeping record
February 24, 2008 11:46 IST

South Africa's Mark Boucher reclaimed the world record for the most Test dismissals by a wicketkeeper during the first test against Bangladesh on Sunday.

Boucher captured his 417th victim, eclipsing the previous record of 416 briefly held by Australian Adam Gilchrist, when he caught Bangladesh batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim for two off the bowling of Jaques Kallis.

Boucher, 31, broke Australian Ian Healy's long-standing world record of 395 Test dismissals against Pakistan in October but lost the record last month when Gilchrist overtook him during the final Test against India in Adelaide.

Gilchrist announced during that match that he was immediately retiring from Test cricket, opening the way for Boucher to reclaim the record for himself.
