Champions League dates to be reviewed

August 07, 2008 11:29 IST

Organisers of the multi-million dollar Twenty20 Champions League due to start in September will review its scheduling following objections by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body said in a statement.

The India, Australia and South Africa cricket boards told the ICC executive board they would reconsider if they could change the dates for the September 29-October 8 event, after a meeting of top administrators discussed the issue, it said.

The boards have agreed to give their response in a week.

The ICC raised objections because the league, involving many international players, starts on the reserve day for the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, to be staged in Pakistan.

Two teams each from India, Australia and South Africa along with one each from England and Pakistan are due to take part in the US $ 6 million event.
