Former captain Clive Lloyd has been appointed manager of the West Indies team for its four-match one-day international series in India starting on Sunday.

Lloyd, chairman of West Indies Cricket Board's cricket committee, had travelled with the squad as an adviser for the ICC Champions Trophy in October. He will succeed Tony Howard, who has been appointed WICB's chief cricket operations officer.

Besides, Barbados coach Hendy Springer will join West Indies as a temporary assistant coach to Bennett King, WICB cricket operations officer Derrick Nicholas said.

King's regular deputy, David Moore, will not be available for the one-day series against India, starting in Nagpur on January 21.

The West Indies team leaves for the tour from Antigua on Wednesday.
