Openers scoring 50 in same innings

Wasim Jaffer and Dinesh Karthik provided only the second instance in this decade of both Indian openers scoring fifty in the same innings in a Test away from subcontinent, on Day 1 of the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

Jaffer had also partnered with Virender Sehwag against the West Indies to provide the only other instance in the 2000s. It was in fact only the ninth such instance for India since 1980.

PS : Since South Africa made a comeback into international cricket in 1991-92, it was the third such instance against them in South Africa.
Marcus Trescothick (132) & Andrew Strauss (136) at Durban in 2004-05 and Justin Langer (58) & Matthew Hayden (96) at Cape Town in 2001-02 provided the other two instances.
