Skipper Rahul Dravid on Wednesday lambasted Chetan Desai, the Indian team's manager on the recent South Africa tour, for his controversial report, saying the official has no "prominent" place in the country's cricketing history.

"It is important to put it in perspective and understand that I have been asked for my views on a report given by someone. When I last looked at the history of Indian cricket I did not necessarily see his name featuring very prominently," Dravid said in an uncharacteristically harsh response when a scribe sought his comments on the issue.

"So when I am asked questions regarding comments and opinion of people, I expect you to ask questions about people who have at least played the game and have some standing in the game and have been involved with the game in some capacity," he said.

A television channel had disclosed on Tuesday that Desai had mentioned in his report of a feud between coach Greg Chappell and Virender Sehwag before the start of the Durban Test and blamed Dravid's selection for the third Test defeat.

"Anyone is entitled to give his opinion, anyone is entitled to give a report. But me commenting on that, I will comment only when it is worthy of my comment," Dravid said.

When a scribe pointed out that Desai was no less than the official manager for the tour, Dravid reiterated: "When I looked at the history of Indian cricket, I did not see his name very prominently. May be I will go back and look again."
