Following on, Saurashtra managed to hold Tamil Nadu to a draw but the hosts mustered three points on gaining first innings lead in the Ranji Trophy Super league cricket match in Chennai on Monday.
Deprived of a win as only 116 minutes of play were possible on Monday due to rains, Tamil Nadu leg spinner C Suresh removed the Saurashtra tailenders early on the fourth and final day. He bagged four wickets for 68 runs.
The visitors, asked to follow-on, applied themselves well on a placid wicket to make 105/2 in 64 overs. Resuming at 28 for 3, Saurashtra's Captain Jaydev Shah (24) was out caught at mid-on by substitute R Prasanna off Ramkumar in the seventh over of the day.
Ravindra Jadeja (33-2 fours) and Rakesh Dhurv (46) added 72 runs for the seventh wicket off 19.4 overs before the latter was adjudged leg before wicket to Suresh. Saurashtra, who were 211 for 6, then collapsed to be all out at the same score.
In the second essay,Saurashtra were two for 30 in 37.5 overs.Then Sagar Jgiyani (46-6x4) and Cheteshwar Pujara (47) held on firmly for the third wicket to force a draw.
When umpires called off play at the end of the eighth mandatory over, the pair had added 75 runs off 26 overs.
