Inzamam faces ICC hearing

September 27, 2006 17:54 IST
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq faced an International Cricket Council hearing on Wednesday into charges of ball tampering and bringing the game into disrepute.

The charges follow Pakistan's decision to stay in the dressing room after the tea interval on the fourth day of the fourth Test against England at The Oval last month.

Pakistan refused to take the field after umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove penalised them five runs for ball tampering and changed the ball. England were then awarded the match on a forfeit.

Inzamam, accompanied by Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, arrived at the Oval on Wednesday morning for the hearing, which is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.
