The Board of Control for Cricket in India has voiced it displeasure over umpire Darrell Hair officiating in the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

"We have written a letter to the ICC asking them not to appoint Hair for the Champions Trophy," BCCI secretary Niranajan Shah said in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The Australian official from the ICC's elite panel of umpires hit the headlines after he called off the fourth Test between England and Pakistan at The Oval in August, when the Pakistan team refused to return to the field following ball-tampering allegations.

"The media focus will be on him, plus there are also chances of crowd trouble during the matches in which he is there," Shah added.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are also not keen on Hair officiating at the event.

Hair has not stood in any match since the Oval Test controversy.
