The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday told coach Greg Chappell to refrain from making controversial statements, particularly against former captain Sourav Ganguly.

It was reacting to the Australian's interview to British newspaper The Guardian, wherein he said, 'What I didn't realise at that stage was how utterly important to his life and finances being captain was.'

The BCCI, in its letter, said, the comments against Ganguly "were unwarranted" and in future his "comments should be restricted to player performances only".

Ganguly had expressed his displeasure about the comments and complained to the Board.
