Start of third Test delayed

The start of the third Test between India and West Indies was delayed by at least 90 minutes due to a wet outfield, at the Warner Park in St Kitts, on Thursday.

Umpire Rudi Koertzen of South Africa said there was concern about a particular area in the outfield that prevented the match from starting on schedule.

"The problem is in fine leg area where there is standing water. We have only one sopper here so it takes time to dry.

"We are looking at 11 am start (2045 IST)," Koertzen said.

Although the area mentioned by Koertzen is 35 metres away from the pitch, the umpires believe "it was too wet" to allow play to begin.

The umpires will have two inspections before deciding on the start.

The series is level at 0-0 after drawn Tests in Antigua and St. Lucia.
