Sri Lanka have cancelled their current three-match one-day series against India because of the wet weather in Colombo.
Only 3.4 overs of play was possible in the first two matches and weather forecasters are predicting more rain in the coming days.
"The rain has already ruined two matches and the forecast is not good, so we have requested for the series to be played at a later date," a Sri Lanka Cricket official told reporters on Sunday.
SLC officials have sent a proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the series to be rescheduled just before or after the 2007 World Cup.
