India-England eves' ODI abandoned

The second women's One-Day International between India and England was abandoned due to rain on Thursday.

The Indians won the toss and elected to field.

The hosts were batting at 42 for 2 off 16 overs when play at the Denis Compton Oval in Shenley was called off.

Laura Newton (24) and Jenny Gunn (4) were at the crease after the fall of Charlotte Edwards (4) and Carloine Atkins (6).

Jhulan Goswami claimed the wicket of Edwards while Amita Sharma trapped Atkins leg before.

England lead the five-match ODI series 1-0, having won the first by 100 runs.

The third match will be played on August 19.
