Fleming holds New Zealand together

New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming struck his ninth Test century on Thursday to hold his team's first innings together on the first day of the second Test against South Africa.

Fleming was unbeaten on 114 as the visitors reached 265 for six when bad light stopped play 12 overs early.

He added 106 for the fourth wicket with Nathan Astle (50) and hit 16 boundaries from 202 balls.

Fast bowler Makhaya Ntini took three for 65.
