Ganguly strikes form, hits sparkling ton

Deposed India captain Sourav Ganguly recorded his 24th first class hundred during the Duleep Trophy match between East Zone and North Zone at Rajkot on Friday.

Ganguly continued from his overnight score of 19 and reached his century in just 117 balls, comprising of 17 fours and a six.

The Bengal batsman, not out on 109, shared a century fifth-wicket partnership with Laxmi Ratan Shukla and an unbeaten partnership of 52 runs along with Deep Dasgupta (25 not out) to put the East Zone in a commanding situation at 234 for 5 at lunch.

East Zone lead North Zone's first innings score of 178 by 56 runs with five wickets in hand.

The only wicket to fall on day two was of Shukla, for a patient 31 off 78 balls, caught by Dinesh Mongia off Amit Mishra's bowling.
