November 09, 2005 12:00 IST

Sri Lanka off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan was left out of the team for the sixth one-dayer against India on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury.

The visitors were asked to bat first by Virender Sehwag, deputising in the absence of regular captain Rahul Dravid, who is himself nursing a hamstring injury.

India's premier batsman Sachin Tendulkar returned to the team after being rested for the previous match.

India's batting was boosted by the return of one-day specialist Mohammad Kaif, who missed the first five matches of the series due to a hamstring injury.

India lead the seven-match series 4-1.
