Pathan claims two as Middlesex win

Irfan Pathan took two wickets and scored 15 runs for Middlesex against Worcestershire in the one-day National League Division One match at the County Ground in London on Monday.

Electing to bat first, Middlesex scored 224 for 7 with useful contributions from opener Ed Smith and Scott Styris.

Smith was the top scorer with 93, while New Zealand all-rounder Stryis registered an impressive 80 off 83 deliveries, which included three boundaries and five sixes.

Pathan provided some entertainment in the end overs as he hit two boundaries and a six before being caught by Ben Smith off  Nadeem Malik.

In reply Worcestershire could only manage 192 for 9, losing the match by 32 runs. South Africa's Zander de Bruyn was the top-scorer with 55.

Pathan, who opened the bowling, claimed two for 38 in his eight overs. Styris proved his utility with the ball, as he claimed 2 for 31 in his nine overs.

Worcestershire: 192 for 7 (Z de Bruyn 55, V Solanki 40, Styris 2-31, Pathan 2-38)

Result: Middlesex won by 32 runs
