Former wicketkeeper Kiran More was appointed India's chief selector on Thursday.
More, 42, takes over from Syed Kirmani and will head the five-member committee for the next two years.
He was a steady wicketkeeper and useful lower order batsman during a playing career spanning 1984-1993, appearing in 94 Tests and 49 one-dayers.
Other former India players on the panel are Yashpal Sharma, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad, off spinner Gopal Sharma, one-day batsman V.B.Chandrasekhar and Test opener Pranab Roy.
