Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) chief Sharad Pawar is likely to contest for the post of President of Board of Control for Cricket in India at BCCI's annual elections scheduled later this month.

"Pawar is definitely going to contest and has a majority support from the BCCI-affiliated units. It looks like he will have a cakewalk win," a top BCCI source said in Mumbai on Sunday.

Pawar is expected to be proposed for the presidentship by one of the affiliated north zone units of the BCCI, from among Punjab, Delhi or Himachal Pradesh, the source said.

The post of the President will become vacant as incumbent Jagmohan Dalmiya is set to complete his term this month-end.

Meanwhile, another BCCI source revealed that the Cricket Club of India (CCI), with former BCCI chief Raj Singh Dungarpur at its helm, is firmly behind Pawar as both the units are based in Mumbai.
