The Green Park Cricket Stadium in Kanpur, slated to host the first Test between India and South Africa in November, is undergoing a facelift.

The stadium, set to host a Test after a gap of five years, would come alive for five days from November 20 and the local authorities are not leaving any stone unturned to make sure that the ground is ready well ahead of time.

Kanpur Cricket Association President Naimuddin Siddiqui said that BCCI's Pitch Committee Chairman Venkat Sundaram, had visited the venue to inspect the new pitch which was being prepared and instructed the KCA to conduct a few matches before October 20 to test the strip.

He said the leveling work on the ground was in the final stages while the drainage work and planting of fresh grass had already been completed.

In the last Test played at The Green Park Stadium in 1999, India beat New Zealand by eight wickets.
