Opener Vidyuth Sivaramakrishnan's unbeaten 97 propelled Tamil Nadu to 183 for one in reply to Hyderabad's first innings total of 163 at close on the second day of their four-day Ranji Trophy cricket Elite Group B league encounter in Chennai on Monday.
Earlier, Hyderabad, overnight 83 for 5, were bundled out for 163 with left arm spinner Ram Kumar being the destroyer-in-chief with six scalps.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Ibrahim Khaleel fell prey to M R Srinivas adding just one run to his overnight score of four and Anirudh Singh was also out leg before to Ramkumar for 24.
Shivaji Yadav (20), Venkatapathy Raju (25 not out) and Inder Sekar Reddy (12) could add 50 runs before the team ended their first innings. Srinivas claimed 3 for 33.
In reply, Tamil Nadu openers Vidyuth and Sadagopan Ramesh laid a solid foundation adding 77 runs before the latter was declared leg before to skipper Venkatapathy Raju. Ramesh made 29 with the help of four fours.
Vidyuth, in the company of S Badrinath, held the Hyderabad bowlers at bay pulling and driving the spinners, Shivaji Yadav Inder Sekar Reddy and Venkatapathy Raju, who operated in tandem.
Vidyuth (97) and Badrinath (56) were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
