Master batsman Sachin Tendulkar did not come out to practice on the first day of the three-day conditioning camp at Eden Garden stadium in Kolkata, but there was no word if he had sustained any injury.

Tendulkar came to the stadium along with the rest of the team from Taj Bengal hotel, but did not come out on the field to either bat, bowl or exercise.

He was seen sitting inside the players' room -- earplugs on, listening to music on a personal CD player.

An Indian team member said he had a session with physio Andrew Leipus, who gave him a massage. But, it was not known, if he was receiving treatment for any injury.

Vice captain Rahul Dravid was also unaware of what had come of Tendulkar that had kept him away from practice.

"I'm not really sure (why Tendulkar did not practice), but he came to the stadium with us," Dravid said.

The first day of the preparatory camp, which began around 1430 IST,  was briefly delayed due to rain.

Bowling legend Kapil Dev visited the practice session and was seen imparting valuable tips to the fast bowlers.

The players would play a practice limited-over match Monday.
