BCCI security team for Pakistan

January 28, 2004 21:16 IST

India will send three officials to Pakistan next week to assess security in the run-up to the team's first full tour there for more than 14 years.

The trio will include a senior police official entrusted with overseeing security to top political leaders.

Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, told reporters on Wednesday that player safety is one of the key issues being discussed with Pakistan.

The India team, on tour in Australia, has reportedly been concerned about recent bombings there, including attacks targeting Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf.

India are scheduled to arrive in early March for three Tests and five one-dayers.

Pakistan Cricket Board officials have guaranteed tight security for India's first visit since 1989-90.
