SL name unchanged squad
February 23, 2004 22:23 IST

Sri Lanka have named an unchanged squad for the third and fourth one-day internationals against Australia.

The third game of the five-match series starts under lights in Colombo on Wednesday on what is expected to be another spin-friendly surface.

Sri Lanka levelled the series 1-1 in Dambulla on Sunday, defeating Australia by just one run in the final over.

The hosts are considering changes to their starting eleven. Wicketkeeper Romesh Kaluwitharana, who was dropped down the batting order on Sunday, could be replaced by a seam bowler or an extra batsman.

Kaluwitharana was run out in both the first two one-dayers and Kumar Sangakkara may be asked to keep wicket again for the first time since the 2003 World Cup.

Explosive opener Saman Jayantha will make his debut if Sri Lanka opt of extra batting firepower.

However, the likeliest change is for left-arm seamer Nuwan Zoysa to make an international return after an 18-month absence.

Sri Lanka squad: Marvan Atapattu (captain), Mahela Jayawardene (vice-captain), Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Russel Arnold, Upul Chandana, Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Dharmasena, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Nuwan Kulasekara, Kaushal Lokuarachchi, Nuwan Zoysa, Saman Jayantha.
