Vice-captain Rahul Dravid who scored his third double century in Tests was finally dismissed for 222 caught at the wicket off Jacob Oram soon after tea.

His double century at the Motera has shut New Zealand out of the first Test.

Dravid was well supported by skipper Sourav Ganguly who was unbeaten on 75 at tea.

Their 182-run partnership for the fifth-wicket was a new record against New Zealand and one that has forced the Kiwis on the back foot.
