A demand for probe into his exclusion from the Ranji Trophy side proved costly for Himachal Pradesh player Rajiv Nayyar, who on Sunday was suspended from the team on "disciplinary ground."

Nayyar, a former captain, had questioned the appointment of "outsiders" in the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) after he was dropped from the side for the state's Ranji Trophy lung opener against Services in Delhi along with a few senior players.

HPCA president Anurag Thakur said that the action was taken against Nayyar as he addressed a press conference after he was not included in the team in the Ranji match against Services.

"He made serious allegations against the selectors, coach and the manager," he said.

Thakur, son of BJP leader and former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, said that a five-member committee has been constituted to inquire into the affair and submit the report within ten days.

"Nayyar was included in the 15-member squad but did not play some matches last year. But no hue and cry was raised then. But why he behaved in this manner is not understandable," Thakur said.
