West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul will miss the seven-match one-day series against Australia after fracturing a finger on his left hand.
He has been told to rest for six weeks, and could also be doubtful for next month's home series against Sri Lanka.
Chanderpaul sustained
the injury taking a catch to dismiss Adam Gilchrist in the fourth and final Test. He still made 104 as West Indies struck a record 418 for seven to win the match.
He was named Man of the Match for his pains, but his absence has further weakened an already inexperienced one-day squad.
