Harbhajan Singh successfully underwent an operation on his bowling hand this morning. He later said he was in "good spirits" and looked forward to returning soon.
"I'm in good spirits. It's over and done with. I can now look forward to recovery," Harbhajan told PTI moments after the operation was performed by Dr Greg Hoy this morning.
Harbhajan said the X-rays of his hand before and after the operation showed a great deal of clearance of floating tissues and torn ligaments.
"The surgeon has removed the tissues and stitched the ligament," said the off-spinner, as he watched his teammates in action against Australia 'A' in a three-day match on television.
Harbhajan, who missed the second Test in Adelaide, had a plaster in his hand which would only be removed after two weeks.
"Till then, I would stick around in Melbourne, may be till the Test series is over," said Harbhajan.
