The telecom tribunal on Monday adjourned hearing on limited mobility case following requests by the warring cellular and basic players that industry-level negotiations were on to work out a long-term solution to the contentious issue.

The case has been adjourned till March 17, Justice D P Wadhwa, Chairman of TDSAT, said adding, on March 17 further directions would be issued with regard to petitions filed by Cellular Operators Association of India.

The counsels of both cellular and basic players said the telecom group constituted by Communications and IT Minister Arun Shourie informed TDSAT about the group's scheduled meeting on March 3 and thus sought an adjournment.

TDSAT was earlier scheduled to hear today COAI's petition on alleged violation of licence conditions by basic players with regard to WLL services and the main petition on review of WLL policy as directed by the Supreme Court.

The telecom group has held two meetings till now and according to participants, the industry was working towards finding a long term and viable solution to the WLL issue.
