Wipro strategically launches a new AI-Native Business and Platforms unit, appointing Nagendra Bandaru as CEO, to accelerate AI-led platform development and drive business outcomes.

Key Points

IT services major Wipro on Wednesday announced the launch of a dedicated AI-Native Business and Platforms unit, triggering a top-level leadership shuffle.

Wipro veteran Nagendra Bandaru, who was serving as the President and Managing Partner of Technology Services Global Business Lines (GBL), has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed AI unit, effective immediately.

Bandaru, who has been with Wipro for nearly three decades, will continue to report to Wipro CEO and MD Srini Pallia in his new role as the AI unit's chief.

To fill Bandaru's previous role, the Bengaluru-headquartered company has roped in former Accenture executive Kanwar Singh as the new President and Managing Partner of Technology Services GBL, according to a regulatory filing.

Singh holds over 30 years of experience - including a 19-year stint at Accenture. He will also report to Pallia and join the Wipro Executive Leadership team.

"This strategic pivot further sharpens Wipro Intelligence's ability to deliver tangible value to clients and drive stronger business outcomes. It positions us to build and scale AI-led platforms at an unprecedented speed and unlock new growth opportunities. By deepening our capabilities across data, workflows, decision engines, and infrastructure, we are well-positioned to lead in the era of intelligent transformation," Pallia said.

The creation of the new AI unit is aimed at strengthening Wipro's position in a "services as software" world, Wipro said.

Wipro's AI Unit Strategy

The unit will consolidate Wipro's platform assets, including industry-specific platforms like NetOxygen (AI-powered lending), CROAMIS (aviation cargo), and healthcare platforms IHS and HPS. It will also incubate new AI-led business lines using an "invest-build-partner" strategy, in close partnership with Wipro Ventures and its wider partner ecosystem.

The unit will speed up the creation of enterprise-grade agentic AI solutions and boost outcome-based value creation through targeted investments and a distinct operating model, the company said.

Leadership Transition in the Americas

In a separate regulatory filing, Wipro informed the stock exchanges that Suzanne Dann, Chief Executive Officer for the Americas-2 Strategic Market Unit, is stepping down to pursue opportunities outside the company.

According to her resignation letter shared with the bourses, Dann's last day of employment will be May 3, 2026. She had been with the IT major for five years.
