Praising the Indian community for their positive contribution to China's economic development, a top Chinese official has said the country looks forward to welcoming more IT professionals from India.
Ding also hosted a dinner in honour of Gadkari and his team currently touring China on a goodwill visit.
He said the Indian community in Shanghai, China's biggest commercial centres, is making a positive contribution to the rapid growth of the city as one of the biggest commercial hubs in the world.
There are a large number of Indian professionals working in different fields in Shanghai and other parts of China.
Appreciating phenomenal progress Shanghai has made in the last few decades as one of the most advanced cities in the world, Gadkari said he would tell the Shanghai success story to all the BJP chief ministers and ask them to emulate the same model of development and growth, a statement said.
Earlier, speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by the NRI community in Shanghai, Gadkari said young Indian professionals were doing a wonderful job abroad and the country was proud of them.
He asked them to maintain links with India in the progress and development of their motherland.
Gadkari arrived here on January 20 on a five-day goodwill visit at the invitation of CPC, the first ever by his party.
Gadkari is accompanied by party general secretaries, Thawarchand Gehlot and Vijay Goel, joint organising secretary Saudan Singh, secretaries Arti Mehra and Laxman Kova and political associate Vinay Sasrabuddhe.
