Amid reports that its chairman Christopher Bland has sought Indian government's help to resolve a bandwidth-related dispute with Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd, British Telecom on Wednesday said it is engaged in a mutually beneficial dialogue with the Tatas-controlled firm on operational requirements of BT's customers in the country.

"We wish to clarify that BT and VSNL are currently engaged in a mutually beneficial dialogue. In our ongoing dialogue with VSNL, we have discussed operational requirements for BT's customers in the country as our needs increase," BT said in a statement in New Delhi.

BT is in constant and regular contact with its partners and business associates in almost every Asia Pacific market including India on a daily basis, it said, adding that the purpose of this ongoing dialogue was to secure arrangements which contribute to the mutual success of both the partners locally and for BT on behalf of its multi-site corporate customers.

"We have a great deal of faith in the future of telecom in this region, and remain highly committed to the growth of our operations in India," the statement added.
