Trade deficit shoots up 114.2% in Oct

Trade deficit shot up by 114.2 per cent in October, this year at $2,021.04 million as against $943.91 million in October 2002.

In April-October, 2003-04, trade deficit increased by 107.9 per cent to $9.269 billion as against $4.457 billion in the corresponding period last year, as per the official data released in New Delhi on Tuesday.

In rupee terms, the trade deficit in October stood at Rs 9,172.93 crore (Rs 91.73 billion) as against Rs 4,561.83 crore (Rs 45.62 billion) in October 2002-03.

Trade deficit stood at Rs 42,968.70 crore (Rs 429.69 billion) in April-October 2003-04 as against Rs 21,704.27 crore (217.04 billion) in April-October, 2002-03.
