TouchTel cuts long-distance rate by 47%

Maintaining the rate cut tempo in the STD segment, Bharti's TouchTel on Thursday announced a reduction of over 47 per cent on long distance tariffs to Rs 4.80 per minute, for calls beyond 500 kilometres.

The revision, applicable to all segments including corporates, individuals and PCOs, would enable TouchTel subscribers to make calls at a flat rate of Rs 4.80 per minute for all distance above 500 kilometres.

The rates would be applicable from Friday midnight, a company statement said in New Delhi.

There is, however, no change in call rates within the 500 kilometer distance slab.

TouchTel, is a basic operator offering services in Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Announcing the revision of long distance tariffs, Bharti Infotel president, Badri Agarwal said, "The new tariffs takes forth TouchTel's commitment to provide to its customers the best value for money. The revision in rates on long distance calls makes calling more affordable as well as brings it within the ambit of a larger number of subscribers."
